PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a catalyst having activity improved in a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis method and selectivity kept in relation to C5+ derived from further excellent control of the average size of microcrystals of an element from group VIII and an excellent distribution of metals from group VIII inside catalyst particles and on surfaces thereof.SOLUTION: A method for preparing a catalyst including an active phase containing at least one kind of metal from group VIII selected from cobalt and the like, and an oxide support includes: at least once the linked sequence of a stage of impregnating the oxide support; a drying stage in which the impregnated oxide support is entrained by means of a gas, the impregnated oxide support being subjected in the stage to a temperature rise ramp of 250 to 600°C/min, the residence time of the impregnated oxide support in the drying stage being 1 sec to 1 min; and a stage of firing the dried impregnated oxide support.
