A method for forming an alignment film is provided to perform the alignment treatments toward different directions and to prevent the generation of particles while forming an alignment part on an alignment layer and conducting an alignment process in a direction mutually different from each other. An alignment film(3) is formed on a substrate(1). An alignment pattern is formed on a mold plate(5). The mold plate is closely attached to the alignment film so that an alignment member is formed to the alignment film. Thereafter, the alignment layer closely attached to the mold plate is cured. A portion of solvent included to the alignment film is dried before the alignment film forming process. The alignment pattern includes the first sub alignment pattern formed toward the first direction. The second sub alignment pattern is formed toward the second direction. A process for removing the foreign substances attached on the alignment plate is performed before the alignment portion forming member. The upper surface of the alignment film is compressed by a compress roller(8) moving along the upper surface of the mold plate. |
