PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing 1,2-bis(trimethylsilyl)benzene or its analogous compound at a low cost in high yield under a mild reaction condition by using a safe solvent.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing 1,2-bis(trimethylsilyl)benzene or its analogous compound. The method includes a step to react a benzene derivative having at least two adjacent chlorine atoms as substituents with chlorotrimethylsilane in the presence of metallic magnesium, a copper salt and lithium chloride using a 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinone expressed by general formula (I) (in the formula, Ris 1-4C alkyl) as a solvent. |
