[Class 53.] Cases.-An accumulator which is intended to be used in an inflammable atmosphere is housed in a metal container having a cover comprising two plates, one of which is fixed and is provided with holes in line with the vents or filling orifices, the other plate being movable and having holes which can be opened or closed by moving the plate so as to open the container to the atmosphere or to close it and render it gastight. The Figure shows a plan of a container having two compartments in which F is the fixed plate of the cover and M, M are two movable plates. The plate F is formed with a number of holes B situated above the vents or filling orifices of the accumulator. The movable plates M, M are also formed with openings B<1> which can be brought into register with the holes B by a sliding movement of the plates M. The plates are held together by studs 4 secured to the movable plates and passing through slots 5 in the fixed plate. A rib 8 on the plate F surrounds each stud and slot 4, 5. Nuts 6 on the studs 4 clamp the plates together. By loosening the nuts 6 the plates F, M can be moved relatively to bring the holes B, B<1> into line. |
