A system for recirculating a hot gas (20) flowing through a gas turbine generally includes a transition piece (32) having a downstream surface (42), a stationary nozzle (52) having a leading edge surface (60) adjacent to the transition piece downstream surface (42), a gap (68) defined between the transition piece downstream surface (42) and the stationary nozzle leading edge surface (60), and a projection (72) having an inner arcuate surface (74) radially separated from an outer surface (82).
