A video call method using an abbreviated number of a portable terminal is provided to set up an abbreviated number and video call availability corresponding to a specific telephone number in a process of registering telephone numbers. The user of a portable terminal presses an abbreviated number corresponding to the telephone number to which the user wants to a video call signal(301), the portable terminal determines whether information about the video call availability corresponding to the pressed abbreviated number is set as "Yes" response(303). If so, the portable terminal displays a message asking whether to perform the video call(305). If the transmission of the video call is selected by the user(307), the video call is connected to the portable terminal having the abbreviated number(309). |
