The present invention relates to a detecting system for passengers to safely get off and a method for the system. Especially, the invention relates to a technology which prevents a collision between the side part of a vehicle and the passengers or which prevents the belongings of the passengers from sticking into the door of the vehicle when the passengers get off the vehicle. According to the invention, the invention comprises an interface unit, a speed sensing unit, and a control unit. The interface unit collects image data on passengers getting off the vehicle using one or a plurality of cameras installed in the vehicle. The speed sensing unit senses the information on the vehicle speed. The control unit verifies whether or not the passengers safely get off the vehicle based on the information on the sensed speed of the vehicle obtained by the speed sensing unit and image data from the interface unit.
