In the production of a composite metal article by forming a coating on steel or other foundation metal by the fusion of a welding rod made from a nickel-chromium or nickel-chromium iron alloy, the total content of impurities in said alloy (other than magnesium) which oxidize more easily than chromium, i.e. calcium, titanium, zirconium, the rare earth metals and aluminium, is not more than 0.1 per cent. In the said rods the amount of each of the deleterious elements defined should preferably not exceed 0.02 per cent. |
