Method and device for sealing the ends of drilling rod elements

The method involves moving a drill pipe element (12) into a closure position (22) by using a handler (14) i.e. pipe handler, such that a closure cap (20) reaches the drill pipe element by a movement of the drill pipe element caused by the handler. The drill pipe element is lowered to the closure cap or in a direction of the closure cap by the handler in the closure position. The drill pipe element is induced to the closure position by a lateral movement of the handler. The closure cap is arrived at the drill pipe element by a lift mechanism. An independent claim is also included for a device for attaching and/or removing a closure cap at and/or from a drill pipe element.
