[Class 52 (ii).] A chair or settee convertible into a bed comprises a foldable and slidable sectionally hinged bed frame and an upholstered back 10 which is movable clear of the bed frame, the bed frame comprising a foot section 8 and a sliding medial section 6 which normally lie under the upholstered seat 7, and a section 2 which, after the back 10 has been moved clear, is guided downwardly and forwardly, by runways 3, as the bed frame is pulled forward, and forms the head of the bed. The back 10 may be so hinged that it can be turned over to the rear of the seat frame, or it may be detachable. The seat proper is held in its position of use by pins 22 and supports 23. |
