Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for sharing sensing information of a portable terminal, which collects a variety of surrounding environment information and provides various types of application services based on a portable device capable of sensing, searching, and communicating. An apparatus for sharing sensing information of a portable device includes: a sensor controller collecting sensing information sensed by a sensor; a communication controller collecting sensing information from surrounding devices; an information managing unit storing collected sensing information; and an information collecting unit determining a sensing information request from an application and a sensing information collecting range based on the sensing information collecting policy, receiving sensing information from at least one of the sensor controller, communication controller, and information managing unit based on the determined sensing information collecting range, converting sensing information received based on the sensing information request into a form requested from the application, and transmitting the converted sensing information to an application.
