The present invention relates to an apparatus for monitoring faults of an air-cooled rotary machine for early detecting and diagnosing faults generated in a rotary machine during operation, such as a generator, an electric motors, and the like using an air cooling method. The apparatus for monitoring faults of an air-cooled rotary machine of the present invention is used for early sensing faults in the air-cooled rotary machine during operation and comprises: a suction pipe which is connected to one side of a rotary machine; a filter which removes particular materials in cooled air discharged by being coupled with one end at one end thereof; a suction pump which inhales cooled air discharged by being coupled with the other end of the filter; a flowmeter which is coupled to the suction pump and controls the amount of cooled air discharged from the suction pump; an ozone sensor which is coupled at one side of the flowmeter and detects the concentration of ozone in the cooled air; an organic compound sensor which is coupled at one side of the ozone sensor and detects the concentration of gaseous organic compounds in the cooled air; a power supply unit which supplies electric power to the ozone sensor and the organic compound sensor; and a control unit which comparing a predetermined standard value with a value detected by receiving an analog signal from the ozone sensor and the organic compound sensor. According to the present invention, the apparatus senses the fault generated in the rotary machine such as a generator, an electric motor, and the like during operation and makes a driver deal with a proper repairing plan according to the kind and the degree of fault, thereby preventing a sudden accident of a rotary machine, stably managing equipment in power plants or industries, and saving maintenance costs.
