An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is provided to realize improved initial charge/discharge efficiency, and to improve the capacity maintenance after a large number of charge/discharge cycles, thereby improving life characteristics. An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery comprises: a non-aqueous organic solvent; a lithium salt; halogenated ethylene carbonate; and trialkylsilyl borate represented by the following formula 1. In formula 1, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 are the same or different, and represent a C1-C8 alkyl group. The halogenated ethylene carbonate and trialkylsilyl borate are used in an amount of 0.1-10 wt% and 0.2-1 wt%, respectively, based on the weight of the electrolyte. |
