A method for assessing melon breeding material for drought resistance by seed germination includes germinating the seeds on sucrose solutions. Selections are carried out after recording the degree of germination of melon seeds at an osmotic pressure of 5 atm in a sucrose solution on the 2-3 day after germinating in a thermostat at a temperature of 28-30 °C in the course of 3-5 days, the probability of divergence of the degree of drought resistance between the varieties by a confidence band is determined.
