METHOD FOR SEPARATING SAPONIN BY THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY

The present invention relates to a method for an effective separation of saponin from liquid compositions. A thin layer chromatography plate coated with the liquid composition is developed into a mixed solvent comprising nonpolar organic solvent, polar organic matter, and water, and then the outcome is developed into a strong acid aqueous solution. The separating method can remove saccharides effectively by the two times of developments, and can improve the separation ability of saponin. In addition, the method can be used for refining or detecting saponin molecules from liquid compositions containing saccharides and saponin. Also, the method can visualize the content and various sponin expressional forms of plant seeds, hence, it can be used as a marker for distinguishing wild beans in case of analyzing pylogenetic relationship.
