365,911. Rudder post assembly for ships. BARNETT, J. M., 67B, Upper Tulse Hill, London. April 30, 1931, No. 12763. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114.] A rudder post assembly wherein the rudder post has a fixed forwardly-extending vertical main (fairing) fin attached to which is an auxiliary vertical guide fin situated immediately aft of the propeller boss. The main fin a has riveted thereto a vertical blade c which is chamfered off in the neighbourhood of the propeller blade roots. The blade may be in two parts, one above and the other below the propeller axis h. The method of attachment consists in using two plates g between which the blades c are riveted and which in turn are riveted to the main fin. In place of riveting, the attachment may be by means of welding. The rear ends of the plates g are shaped to conform to the shape of the front of the main fin.
|
