[Class 135.] Valves closing with rush of fluid.-A valve device particularly applicable for use in connection with pneumatic tools for reducing the flow of air in the event of a breakage in the pipe line comprises a valve member 13 loosely held in position by a stud 11 engaging a hole near one edge of the valve and acted on by a spring 16 engaging a socket 15 formed in the valve member near the opposite edge. The other end of the loading spring is supported by an abutment 17 rotatably mounted on an adjusting screw 19 secured by a lock-nut 20. The back of the valve is preferably formed concave and a small bleed hole 14 is provided in the valve member. The casing is formed in two parts screwed together, a flange on the upper part acting as a stop for the valve member.</p> |
