摘要 The purpose of the present invention is to provide a continuously variable transmission using a torque converter, wherein the transmission generates output by interlocking gears as soon as a power source is activated and therefore can prevent power loss at low RPMs, and automatically changes gears in a dynamic way based on the driving condition or resistance of a vehicle at high RPMs, thereby capable of improving the output and performance of the vehicle. The continuously variable transmission according to the present invention comprises the following parts: a housing; an input shaft which is supported to be rotated at the housing; a first planet gear assembly which is composed of a first sun gear, multiple first planet gears, a first carrier, and a first ring gear, and where the first sun gear is fixed to the input shaft and the first carrier is fixed to the housing; a torque converter which is composed of a turbine, an impeller, and a lockup clutch, and where the turbine is fixed to the first ring gear of the first planet gear assembly; a second planet gear assembly which is composed of a second sun gear, multiple second planet gears, a second carrier, and a second ring gear, and where the second sun gear is fixed to the input shaft and the second carrier is fixed to the turbine of the torque converter; an output shaft which is supported to be rotated at the housing, and fixed at the rotational center of the second ring gear of the second planet gear assembly; and a forward/backward unidirectional rotation unit which converts the rotational direction of the second carrier of the second planet gear assembly into the clockwise direction or the counterclockwise direction, and allows only unidirectional rotation.
