The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a cosmetic composition containing peiminine, dihydromollugin, chrysophanol, or a mixture thereof as active ingredients for inhibiting hair growth, a method for inhibiting hair growth, a composition for promoting the production of epidermal growth factor (hEGF), and a method for increasing the production of hEGF. The composition for inhibiting hair growth in the present invention overcomes weaknesses in problems with the conventional chemical and physical depilatories and disability by the use of hEGF itself and inhibits the growth of facial hair or body hair, thereby being widely used for developing more effectual skin care products.
