The present invention relates to a system and a method for user account management. The system comprises: a service providing device for generating a user account according to a user's request, providing services including personal content registration and management, receiving and storing inheritor information of the user account, transferring the usage right for the user account to the inheritor according to the user's choice, and providing the inheritor with the management service for the personal content; and a user terminal for accessing the service providing device, requesting to generate the user account, and inputting the inheritor information of the user account if the user account is generated. As a result, in the user account management system capable of registering and using personal content over a network, an inheritor, who is designated by an account user and inherits the usage right for the account, can manage the personal content in the user account if the user cannot use the user account because of death or missing.
