PURPOSE: A data filtering device using a movement standard deviation and a method thereof are provided to supply reliable data processing by determining a noise while changing an effective range according to a situation. CONSTITUTION: A calculating unit (210) calculates a movement standard deviation and a movement average of sensor measurement data and calculates a minimum value and a maximum value in an effective range of the data based on the deviation and the movement average. If the sensor measurement data is in the effective range, a filtering unit (230) outputs the sensor measurement data. If the sensor measurement data is bigger than the maximum value, the filtering unit outputs the maximum value. If the sensor measurement data is smaller than the minimum value, the filtering unit outputs the minimum value.
