PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for diagnosing prostate cancer using fractal dimension value are provided to minimize diagnosing time without invasiveness and pain. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for diagnosing prostate cancer using fractal dimensional value comprises: a semiconductor laser for irradiating excitation laser light; an optical unit(120) which sends the excitation laser light to a prostate sample and receiving self-fluorescence generated from the prostate sample; a detection unit(130) for detecting self-fluorescence and measures the intensity of a single photon; and a diagnosis unit(140) for calculating the fractal dimensional value using fractal dimensional algorithm. A method for diagnosing prostate cancer using the fractal dimensional value comprises: a step of sending the excitation laser light to the prostate sample and receiving the self-fluorescence; a step of detecting the self-fluorescence and detect time-dependent self-fluorescence intensity; and a step of calculating the fractal dimensional value using the fractal dimensional algorithm.
