摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve decompression performance while improving a compression rate of large-volume data including a sequence of many fixed-length records.SOLUTION: When a sequence of fixed-length records is compressed in a column direction, the number of rows processed with one-time compression in the column direction is calculated from performance on a decompression device side such as the capacity of a cache memory or the capacity of a main storage device usable by application software and the size of one record, thereby carrying out data compression according with the performance of the decompression device.
