PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter for motor drive capable of achieving safety stop of a motor with relatively simple circuitry.SOLUTION: The power converter for motor drive comprises: an inverter device 11 for driving an AC motor 21 by inverting a DC voltage given into an AC voltage; two gate drive circuits 31, 32 for supplying an on/off gate pulse, respectively, to power semiconductor elements on the positive side and negative side constituting the inverter device 11; PWM signal generation means 51 for supplying a PWM pulse to the gate drive circuits 31, 32; and safety stop means for stopping the AC motor 21 safely. When any one of two independent stop commands 61, 63 is input externally, the safety stop means fixes to turn off the output of at least one of the gate drive circuits 31, 32. |
