PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deceleration and misfire of an engine by an EGR without bringing a sense of idle running to a driver by improving valve closing responsiveness of an EGR valve in deceleration of the engine.SOLUTION: An EGR apparatus includes an EGR passage 17 and an EGR valve 18 provided in the EGR passage 17 to regulate an EGR flow rate in the EGR passage 17. An electronic control unit (ECU) 41 closes the EGR valve 18 from an open state prior to start of deceleration of an engine 1 based on engine rotation speed NE detected by a rotation speed sensor 52, an accelerator opening degree ACC detected by an accelerator sensor 27, and an actual opening degree TTegr of the EGR valve 18. In particular, during deceleration of the engine 1, the ECU 41 obtains a target opening degree Tegracc of the EGR valve 18 according to the separately detected engine rotation speed NE and the accelerator opening degree ACC from a target opening degree map, and starts to close the EGR valve 18 when a difference &Dgr;TEGR between the actual opening degree TTegr and the target opening degree Tegracc of the EGR valve 18 exceeds a predetermined value &Dgr;B. |
