PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical laminate capable of highly suppressing generation of rainbow-like irregularities and interference fringes on a display image in a liquid crystal display device using a light-permeable base material having an in-plane birefringence and to provide a polarizing plate and an image display device using the optical laminate.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical laminate which has an optical functional layer having an unevenness shape on a surface, on one surface of a light-permeable base material having an in-plane birefringence, wherein the light-permeable base material having an in-plane birefringence has a retardation of 3000 nm or more, and in the uneven shape on the surface of the optical functional layer, when the average tilt angle of the uneven part is defined as &thetas;a and the skewness of the unevenness is defined as Sk, the absolute value of Sk and &thetas;a satisfy the following expression: 0.01°≤&thetas;a≤0.10°|Sk|≤0.5.
