<p>The present invention relates to a method for producing isosorbide and sorbitan by using water-compatible lewis acid, removing water and dehydrating sorbitol. The method for producing isosorbide and sorbitan of the present invention does not generate acid wastewater by using relatively cheap water-compatible lewis acid in water during reaction and provides the conversion way to economical and eco-friendly isosorbide.</p>
