PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set efficient mold drawing.SOLUTION: A mold drawing setting device (PC) includes: a means (C102) storing article (2) information; a means (C111) for calculating projected areas (2x-2z) of the article (2) relative to a virtual plane vertical to a candidate of a moving direction of a mold (3); a means (C113) for identifying a direction in which the projected areas (2x-2z) are maximized; a means (C110) for determining whether or not a surface of the article (2) is a molding impossible portion; a means (C112) for calculating total areas (Cx-Cz) of the molding impossible portion; a means (C114) for identifying in a direction in which the total areas (Cx-Cz) are minimized; a means (C115) for determining whether or not the maximum direction of the projected areas (2x-2z) and the minimum direction of the total areas (Cx-Cz) correspond to each other; and a means (C117) for setting the maximum direction of the projected areas (2x-2z) as a mold drawing direction, when the maximum direction of the projected areas (2x-2z) and the minimum direction of the total areas (Cx-Cz) correspond to each other.
