PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device capable of obtaining satisfactory drivability even in the case where supercharge response delay is present.SOLUTION: A valve timing control device changes timing to open an intake valve 35 with respect to a crank angle position in accordance with the operation state of an engine 1. The valve timing control apparatus includes: an intake air quantity detection means 54 for detecting the intake air quantity of the engine; an intake air pressure detection means 58 for detecting an intake air pressure in the vicinity of the intake port; and a request torque discrimination means 71 for discriminating request torque. In the case where the request torque is less than a predetermined value, first valve opening timing control is performed to advance valve opening timing of the intake valve in accordance with the increase of the intake air quantity. In the case where the request torque is equal to or more than the predetermined value, second valve opening timing control is performed to advance the valve opening timing of the intake valve in accordance with the increase of the intake air pressure. |
