PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for polymerizing a diene while securing as high yield of polymerized diene as possible, compared with a diene monomer being used, in view of the background.SOLUTION: A method for polymerizing a diene includes the steps of: (a) reacting the diene with hydrogen peroxide in a hydrophilic organic solvent in the presence of water at a temperature of 50-150°C and a pressure of 0-50 bars to form a reaction mixture; (b) contacting the reaction mixture with water, in which the temperature of the water is 20-80°C, preferably 50-65°C; (c) separating unreacted gaseous diene from the reaction mixture contacted with water from the step (b), and subsequently carrying out condensation, distillation and recycling of the unreacted gaseous diene; (d) separating an aqueous phase including the hydrophilic solvent from the reaction mixture, and subsequently recycling the hydrophilic solvent in the step (a); and (e) purifying the polymerization product by distillation. |
