PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which gives no confusion to users when the projector is suspended.SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes: an image projection unit 10 which projects an image based on image information; an intensity detection unit 22 which detects an ambient intensity; an image retaining unit (an image processing unit 33, a frame memory 33a) which retains the image information; the image processing unit 33 which performs image processing to the image information; an operation receiving unit (an operation panel 21); and a control unit 20. Upon receipt of a predetermined operation, the control unit 20 causes the image retaining unit to retain therein the image information as retained image information. Further, if the ambient intensity is a predetermined intensity or greater, the control unit 20 causes a first image corresponding to the retained image information to be projected. If the ambient intensity is less than the predetermined intensity, the control unit 20 causes the image processing unit 33 to generate second image information that includes the retained image information and that indicates an intensity greater than the intensity indicated in the retained image information, thereby causing a second image corresponding to the second image information to be projected. |
