PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a read condition corresponding to a feature or a type of a document in reading an image of the document.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 309 has conveyance means for conveying a document one by one. A document type determination unit 252 of the image reading apparatus 309 detects a feature or a type of the document conveyed by the conveyance means. An image reading unit 251 of the image reading apparatus 309 reads an image of the document conveyed by the conveyance means in accordance with a read condition corresponding to a result of the detection.
