The method involves heating or cooling a seal by a heater/cooler (10) placed in contact with a metal insert (2), where the metal insert includes an opening (18) such that a head (16) of the heater/cooler is placed inside the opening. The head of the heater/cooler and the opening of the insert are connected by a threaded connection, where the heater/cooler is portable such as gun type, and the heater/cooler includes an electric inductor (14) or cold liquid cooperating with a thermal transmission bar (15). An independent claim is also included for a method for separation of a metal insert from a composite material part.
