R : -COO -> or -A-X; A : -(CH 2) n- chain optionally substituted with one or two -CH 3 groups; X : -OH, -COO -> or -NH 3 +>; R : -[(CH 2) mNR1R2(CH 2) pOH] +>; R1, R2 : H or CH 3; Ln1 : lanthanide, preferably Sm, Eu, Gd, Lu, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm or Yb; and n, m, p : 1-4. Independent claims are included for: (1) lanthanide(III) complex compound of formula (I); and (2) a substitited 4-[1,2,3]triazol-1-yl-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid compound of formula (II).
