The present invention relates to a motor short detection device for detecting a short state of a motor which receives pulse width modulation (PWM) signals by phase from multiple field-effect transistors (FET). The motor short detection device comprises a gate signal period setting part which sets up a gate signal period for each phase signal inputted to the motor; an error valid section setting part which receives information on a switch changing time point for each phase signal from the gate signal period setting part, sets up a time section of a predetermined size from the switch changing time point for each phase as a unit error blank section, determines a final error blank section by integrating each unit error blank section of each phase, and sets up an error valid section at the section except for the error blank section in the whole period; and an error determination part which receives a produced error signal from a gate driver producing the error signal by comparing a voltage monitoring value for the motor with a predetermined value and determines that the error signal is an actual error signal if the received error signal is included within the section which is set up by the error valid section setting part. According to the present invention, the motor short detection device prevents a detection error by distinguishing an error due to motor short from an error due to MOSFET switching.
