The present invention has: a steering torque detecting means (12) for detecting steering torque added to a manual steering means (10); a first electric-torque-determining means for determining a first electric torque value on the basis of a detected steering torque; a second electric-torque-determining means for determining a second electric torque value on the basis of a detected value detected by a vehicle behavior detecting means (15) for detecting the behavior of a vehicle (100); an electric motor (9) for adding combined electric torque to a steered wheel (6); and an electric-current-control means for controlling an electric current flowing to the electric motor using a combined electric torque value obtained by adding the second electric torque value to the first electric torque value. The second electric-torque-determining means resets the second electric torque value, which is greater than an upper limit value, to a value equal to or less than the upper limit value; and changes the upper limit value according to a combination of the direction of the second electric torque value and the steering direction of the manual steering means (10). Accordingly provided thereby is a vehicle steering device (1) that minimizes driver discomfort, and enables exceptional control to be performed for suppressing vehicle behavior.
