<p>369,376. Washing flue gas. HABER, E., 2, Geisbergstrasse, Berlin. March 9, 1931, No. 7269. [Class 55 (ii).] In the separation of dust &c. from flue gases in which steam and water are supplied to the gases at a turning point in their flow, the steam is supplied from openings located immediately above the surface of the water so as to atomize the same. The gases descend through a duct 1 on to the surface of water in a vessel 2 and escape through ducts 3. A rotary perforated pipe 4 distributes steam which entrains sufficient surface water to form a dense vapour at the lower end of the dust 1. Fresh water is supplied by a pipe 6, and duct &c. drains into an annular overflow 7, or through openings in the base of the vessel, and passes to a settling tank 11 ; a pump 12 re-circulates the clarified water. In a modification, the direction of flow of the gases is deflected twice, and additional steam nozzles are used.</p> |
