PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a slab capable of suppressing production of cracks in corner parts.SOLUTION: In a method for producing a slab, a stock is rolled at a rolling strain of 0.03 to 0.12 per one pass using the box grooves of a blooming mill provided with a pair of blooming rolls having the box grooves (S2); next, in a V-H type continuous slab rolling mill including a pair of first rolls having diamond grooves and a pair of second rolls arranged orthogonally to the first rolls behind the first rolls and having square grooves, using the diamond grooves, an intermediate slab subjected to blooming is rolled at a reduction of area of ≤30% (S3); and next, using the square grooves, the intermediate slab rolled by the diamond grooves is rolled at a reduction of area of ≤30% in such a manner that a finishing temperature becomes ≥900°C to produce the slab (S3). The rolling using the diamond grooves and the rolling using the square grooves are performed only one time, respectively. |
