PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance and reduce power requirements in a shared memory system.SOLUTION: To control synchronization of bus transactions, a bus master transmits a memory barrier command, and a bus interconnect receives the device-directed memory barrier command. The device-directed memory barrier command is decoded to determine one or more destination devices. The memory barrier command is selectively routed to the one or more destination devices in response to the decoding. When barrier responses are received from all selected devices, the barrier responses are forwarded to the bus master. |
