An emulsion cosmetic composition which contains the following components (A), (B), (C) and (D): (A) from 0.1% by weight to 15% by weight (inclusive) of one or more compounds that are selected from among sphingosine, pseudo-sphingosine, salts of sphingosine or pseudo-sphingosine, and ionic surfactants; (B) one or more compounds that are selected from among monoglycerol difatty acid esters and sorbitan difatty acid esters; (C) one or more compounds that are selected from among ceramides, alcohols having 12-22 carbon atoms, monoglycerol mono (C12-C22) fatty acid esters, mono (C12-C22) alkylglyceryl ethers and sorbitan mono (C12-C22) fatty acid esters; and (D) water. With respect to the components (A), (B) and (C), the following conditions (1)-(3) are satisfied. (1) the weight ratio A/(B + C) is from 0.04 to 1 (inclusive); (2) the molar fraction B/(B + C) is from 0.02 to 0.45 (inclusive); and (3) the maximum molar fraction of a single compound component in the B + C constituent components is from 0.2 to 0.8 (inclusive). |
