The invention relates to a tool insert for a rotor of a rotary impact crusher, comprising a mallet, which has a head having a working part and which has a fastening base, wherein the fastening base has a front clamping surface facing in the advancing direction and a rear clamping surface directed oppositely toward the back face. According to the invention, in order to improve the operational safety of a rotary impact crusher, in the area of the rear clamping surface, a boss protrudes rearward beyond the rear clamping surface, wherein the boss is arranged between two clamping surface parts of the rear clamping surface offset from each other in the radial direction. The invention further relates to a rotor for a rotary impact crusher having improved operating characteristics.
