PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical cell which is suppressed in deterioration in catalyst function of a hydrogen electrode due to electrolytic reaction to maintain a high electrolytic reaction efficiency over a long period of time.SOLUTION: An electrochemical cell includes: an electrolyte membrane which has electrically insulating property and exhibits oxygen ion conductivity; an oxygen electrode formed on a side of one main surface of the electrolyte membrane; and a hydrogen electrode composed of a metal oxide containing metal nickel and cerium and formed on a side of the other main surface of the electrolyte membrane.
