The invention relates to a spring cable drum, with a substantially cylindrical drum casing serving as the cable reel and with a spring which is arranged in said drum casing and is intended for producing prestress on the withdrawn cable, wherein the spring (15) is fastened to at least one of its two ends to a holding element which has at least one predetermined breaking point which is dimensioned in such a manner that it breaks at a predetermined loading of the spring (15), said loading lying below the maximum permissible value, and, as a result, enables the spring (15) to relax.
