PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for control of a showcase, capable of preventing deterioration of commodities in the case, facilitating maintenance work, and improving determination reliability.SOLUTION: A control device 5 of a showcase includes: an in-case temperature detection part 2d for detecting in-case temperature in the case where commodities of the showcase 2 are exhibited; a blowout temperature detection part 2e for detecting blowout temperature of cold air blown out into the case; a determination part 5a for determining whether or not excessive attached frost tends to occur in the showcase 2 from a change in the in-case temperature detected by the in-case temperature detection part 2d and a change in blowout temperature detected by the blowout temperature detection part 2e; and a notification part 5e for notifying that the excessive attached frost tends to occur if the determination part 5a has determined that the excessive attached frost tends to occur.
