PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the surface temperature of a cast slab that is cooled by a secondary cooling zone in a continuous casting machine can be stably measured in high accuracy for a long time by using a radiation thermometer capable of forming an air column.SOLUTION: In a secondary cooling zone where a cast slab is cooled by cooling water during continuous casting of a cast slab, a radiation thermometer is used to measure the surface temperature. Air for purging is jetted to the surface of the cast slab from the radiation thermometer to form an air column between the radiation thermometer and the surface of the cast slab. Thermal radiation light from the surface of the cast slab is detected by the radiation thermometer through the air column, and when measuring the surface temperature of the cast slab, the diameter of such a part in the air column that is in contact with the surface of the cast slab is set to 30-40 mm. |
