The base station (102) transmits a second control signal to be used in setting both a first interval, in which monitoring a first control signal having a plurality of formats is performed, and a second interval that is different from the first interval. The mobile station (101) performs monitoring the first control signal for the plurality of formats during the first interval. The mobile station (101) also performs monitoring the first control signal for fewer formats during the second interval.
