[Problem] To provide a high-withstanding-voltage alumina sintered compact that is not susceptible to surface insulation damage from applied voltage, and a high-withstanding-voltage member made by providing an electrode to the high-withstanding-voltage alumina sintered compact. [Solution] A high-withstanding-voltage member composed of an alumina sintered compact having alumina as the main crystals, the member being capable of increasing the allowable voltage leading to surface insulation damage by having a peak strength of 5000 or less in a wavelength vicinity of 330 nm as measured using cathode luminescence, therefore having little occurrence of instantaneous voltage decreases and being able to reduce instances of missing data due to instantaneous voltage decreases. |
