[Problem] To provide a method for assessing a spectacle lens with which a spectacle lens suitable for the user can be objectively assessed by measuring brain activity, and a method for designing a spectacle lens using said method for assessment. [Solution] A subject is made to wear a lens being assessed and to look, through the lens being assessed, at an intended visual stimulus for evoking activity in a specific site of the visual cortex of the brain. Evoked activity of the specific site of the visual cortex of the brain when the intended visual stimulus is being looked at through the lens being assessed is measured by an electroencephalograph or a magnetoencephalograph, and the spectacle lens is assessed on the basis of the time (latent time) from when the visual stimulus is received to when a change therein takes place, or on the basis of the magnitude (amplitude) of activity.
