PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of effectively detecting not only offset or 'a flaw due to contact with a peeling pawl or a thermistor' as a surface condition of a fixing member but in particular, 'a stripe flaw caused by contact with a sheet type recording medium'.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms an electrostatic latent image by uniformly charging a photoconductive photoreceptor and writing an image with light, visualizes the electrostatic latent image as a toner image, transfers the toner image into a sheet type recording medium, and fixes the image. The image forming apparatus includes a surface information detecting device 200, 300 that detects surface information of a fixing member in the fixing device. The surface information detecting device irradiates the fixing member with a plurality of light spots in a direction intersecting a conveyance direction, receives and senses reflected light from each light spot, and detects the surface information of the fixing member surface based on a plurality of detection results. |
