The present invention is aimed at providing a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of improving cycling characteristics by improving a positive electrode active material when particles with a structure in which primary particles are aggregated to front, secondary particles are used as the positive electrode active material of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, thereby permitting preferred use as a power supply of a hybrid electric car or the like. The positive electrode active material includes secondary particles 20 composed of aggregated primary particles 21, the primary particles 21 have an aspect ratio of 2.0 or more and 10.0 or less, and in powder X-ray diffraction measurement using CuKalpha ray, the positive electrode active material satisfies 0.10�@FWHM110 @0.30� wherein FWHM110 represents a full width at half maximum of a 110 diffraction peak present within a range of diffraction angle 2theta of 64.5��1.0�. |
